Silence Your Phone
...Not Your Life !

Our mission is to educate and raise awareness about the dangers of texting while driving, in order to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities.

Our Vision
As six teens armed with learner’s permits and on the brink of getting our driver’s licenses, driving is a big issue in our lives. We have become aware of the terrible consequences of texting while driving, both through the media and through personal experiences with our peers. We also see that many of our peers do not understand the danger of texting while driving. Hardly a day passes without one of us witnessing improper cell phone usage by the driver of a car. We want to change that, first by teaching people about this issue and second by helping to create legislation to make texting while driving illegal.

Our Goals
  1. To raise awareness of this issue and its consequences.
  2. To educate drivers and pre-drivers about the dangers of texting while driving.
  3. To promote legislation prohibiting texting while driving.

Our Objectives
  1. Create an impactful team presentation on texting while  driving.
  2. Give our presentation at events to communicate our message.
  3. Create opportunities, through community events, school visits, and publicity to give our presentation, distribute related literature, and communicate our message.

TTYL, Inc. is devoted to raising awareness about the dangers of texting while driving, and assisting legislative bodies with their efforts toward banning texting while driving. TTYL, Inc. will achieve these objectives in many ways, including by compiling and presenting information to city and state legislative bodies, creating a DVD presentation for schools, YouTube and other organizations, creating a website with information and links on the topic, taking TTYL, Inc. to social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace, and creating tangible advertising that will serve as a reminder of the dangers of texting and driving, such as bumper stickers and key chains. TTYL, Inc. was created by a group of concerned high school honors students who are also new drivers, and have witnessed erratic driving by people who are texting. The name of the organization is derived from “TTYL,” which in email and texting lingo means “talk to you later.” Through TTYL, Inc., the group intends by the above means to combat the serious and growing problem of texting while driving.
